Nigerian music star Raoul John Njeng-Njeng, popularly known as Skales, is experiencing a remarkable career resurgence, ten years after the release of his hit single, Shake Body. The Afrobeats anthem, originally released in 2014, has found a new lease of life on TikTok, where it has gone viral within just two months.
The renewed popularity of Shake Body has translated into significant milestones for the independent artiste on Spotify. In April 2025, Skales reached one million monthly listeners on the global streaming platform for the first time. Barely a month later, that figure has doubled to two million.
Most recently, Shake Body debuted at number 98 on the Global Spotify Viral Songs Chart, marking another major achievement. The song is currently charting on the Spotify viral charts of more than 30 countries, including Spain, Bulgaria, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and France.
Elated by the song’s global comeback, the 34-year-old Kaduna-born artist took to his X page to express gratitude. “Wow!!! This is mind-blowing for an independent artiste with full ownership… thank you Jesus,” he wrote.

The Lamine Yamal Effect
The viral revival of Shake Body can be traced to an unexpected source: 17-year-old FC Barcelona football sensation Lamine Yamal. In March 2025, following Spain’s victory over the Netherlands in the UEFA Nations League, Yamal posted a celebratory TikTok video featuring himself and fellow players Nico Williams and Samu Omorodion dancing to Shake Body.
The video rapidly gained traction, amassing over 180 million views and 16 million likes. Yamal, who has more than 31 million followers on the platform, further boosted the song’s visibility when he appeared in another TikTok clip dancing to the track alongside former Barcelona captain Gerard Piqué and popular Spanish streamer Ibai Llanos.
Since the song’s viral success, Skales has met Yamal and Barcelona left-back Alejandro Balde. He even performed Shake Body at a private celebration party hosted by the football stars.
To commemorate the renewed attention and show appreciation, Skales has teased a new single titled Dance Like Lamine Yamal in honour of the young footballer’s role in the song’s revival.
