The authorities of Saudi Arabia have confirmed the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent, marking the commencement of the 12th month in the Islamic calendar.
In a post on Tuesday via X (formerly Twitter), the Saudi-based news platform Haramain announced that Wednesday would be the first day of Dhul Hijjah.
The month of Dhul Hijjah is significant in Islam, as it is the period during which Muslims from around the world travel to Makkah to perform the Hajj pilgrimage.

According to Haramain, the Day of Arafat will fall on Wednesday, 5 June, while Eid al-Adha the most important celebration in the Muslim calendar will be observed on Thursday, 6 June.
Dhul Hijjah is regarded as a sacred month and is traditionally marked by heightened devotion, reflection, and worship.
