The body of former President Muhammadu Buhari arrived at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua International Airport in Katsina on Tuesday, 15th July, ahead of his burial in his hometown of Daura.
The late president’s remains were flown in from London, where he passed away on Sunday, 13th July, at the age of 82, following a brief illness.
In what marked his final presidential flight, the aircraft carrying former President Buhari touched down in Katsina at 1:59 p.m., where it was received with full military honours and state protocol.
The coffin bearing his remains was received in a solemn ceremony, with top government officials, family members, and dignitaries present on the tarmac to pay their respects.
Vice President Kashim Shettima led the Federal Government delegation accompanying the late president’s body from the United Kingdom, in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive.
On arrival at the airport, the body was received by President Bola Tinubu, Gov. Dikko Radda of Katsina, Ministers, governors, Captains of industries, National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, Presidential aides and members of Katsina State Executive Council.

President Tinubu had arrived in Katsina earlier to personally receive the remains of his predecessor, paying tribute to a leader who played a defining role in Nigeria’s modern history.
The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, is also in Katsina to join in the final rites for the former leader.
Former President Buhari will be laid to rest today in Daura in accordance with Islamic rites.
A large crowd of mourners, including political leaders, traditional rulers, and members of the public, are set to attend the burial to pay their final respects.
