Rivers Sole Administrator to Defend 2025 Budget

The Rivers State Administrator, Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd)has urged citizens to reflect on past milestones while embracing unity, cooperation, and Commitment to a Common identity to have a more prosperous state.

Ibas made this appeal at a special inter-denominational Thanksgiving service held at the Ecumenical Centre, Port Harcourt.

Highlighting the state’s strength in its diversity, Admiral Ibas underscored the importance of a collective identity.
“Let us not only celebrate our past but also commit to shaping a future where our children are confident in their identity, faithful to their heritage, innovative in enterprise, and God-fearing in character,” he said.

He called on political, traditional, religious, and community leaders to place the common good above individual or group interests.
“We are bonded together by a common destiny the hope of a better tomorrow where every Rivers citizen can thrive, contribute, and belong,” he added.

Admiral Ibas described the thanksgiving service as more than a ceremonial occasion, calling it a solemn opportunity for reflection, forgiveness, and reconciliation. He expressed confidence in the state’s resilience, despite facing political, economic, and social challenges over the years.

“Through every season of trial, God has preserved this land and its people. I am certain that our current challenges, whatever they may be, shall pass. By His grace, Rivers State will rise stronger and more determined than ever before,” he declared.

On development, the administrator stressed the urgency of addressing infrastructural deficits, improving education, and expanding access to skills acquisition for young people.
“Our public institutions must be transparent, accountable, and responsive. Development must be a shared experience  fair to every community, village, and local government. This is the standard we must uphold,” he said.

In his sermon, Pastor Barasin Ogan, Chaplain of the Chapel of Everlasting Grace, Government House, described thanksgiving as a divine command that opens the door to blessings and acknowledges God as the source of all prosperity.

The government has reiterated its commitment to inclusive growth, unity, and long-term development for the benefit of all its citizens.
