The Bank of Industry (BoI) has taken a significant step towards supporting economic development in Kogi State with the inauguration of a new office in Lokoja.
The opening of the office is expected to create new opportunities for local enterprises by enhancing access to development finance and promoting sustainable growth.
Governor Ahmed Ododo, who officially commissioned the office on Monday in Lokoja, described the development as a testament to the state’s preparedness for economic transformation.
He remarked that BoI’s presence in Kogi signifies more than mere investment; it underscores the state’s openness to growth, underpinned by its abundant natural and mineral resources.
“This is not just a structure. It symbolises a future founded on shared belief and the people’s resolve to transform Kogi into Nigeria’s economic powerhouse,” the governor stated.
“With the Bank of Industry as our partner, I am confident that we are now firmly on the right track.”
Governor Ododo also expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for prioritising Kogi’s development and for his unwavering support of the state’s economic aspirations.
He pledged the full cooperation of the state government with BoI, assuring a business-friendly environment that will benefit the people of Kogi.
Earlier, BoI’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Olasupo Olusi, said the commissioning of the Lokoja office demonstrates the federal government’s commitment to delivering development finance across Nigeria.
“Kogi State is now part of our expanding national network, offering residents direct access to BoI’s financial services,” Olusi said.
He explained that the office would support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), cooperatives, as well as women- and youth-led businesses and industries, to foster inclusive economic development.
Dr Olusi noted that the commissioning marks a milestone in BoI’s strategy to strengthen support for MSMEs and improve access to affordable and inclusive financing.
He added that the new office would also cater to key sectors such as agriculture, solid minerals, manufacturing, and the creative and circular economies.

He referenced initiatives such as the N200 billion MSME Intervention Fund, aimed at driving job creation, innovation, and sustainable enterprise.
“I urge entrepreneurs across Kogi to take full advantage of this opportunity.
“This commissioning marks not merely the opening of an office, but the beginning of a new era of innovation, partnership, and economic inclusion,” Olusi concluded.
Also speaking at the event, Chairman of the Kogi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr Femi Ajisafe, commended Governor Ododo for facilitating BoI’s establishment in the state.
He assured BoI of the chamber’s continued partnership in supporting thriving businesses and advancing Kogi’s economic development objectives.
