President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a one-year extension of tenure for the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.
The announcement was made on Thursday through a statement issued by Presidential Spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga.
According to Onanuga, the extension originally set to expire on August 31, 2025 will allow CG Adeniyi to consolidate ongoing reforms initiated under the current administration.

The statement further noted that President Tinubu’s approval is aimed at enabling Adeniyi to complete key initiatives, including the modernisation of the Customs Service, implementation of the National Single Window Project, and Nigeria’s commitments under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) agreement.
President Tinubu also commended Adeniyi’s dedicated leadership and unwavering commitment to service, expressing confidence that the extension will enhance the Customs Service’s ability to fulfil its strategic objectives in trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border security.
