President Tinubu Confers National Honour on Bill Gates

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has conferred the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) on Mr Bill Gates, Chief Executive Officer of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

The award was presented during Mr Gates’ visit to the President at his Ikoyi residence in Lagos State.

The announcement was made by Presidential Spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, via his verified X handle, @aonanuga1956. He wrote: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Lagos on Tuesday night conferred the National Honour of Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (CFR) on billionaire Bill Gates, co-founder of Microsoft and founder of Bill Gates Foundation.”

The CFR is one of Nigeria’s highest national honours, typically awarded to individuals who have made significant contributions to the country’s development.

Mr Gates was recognised for his long-standing commitment to global health, education, poverty reduction, and his foundation’s strategic partnership with Nigeria.
