The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has departed Nigeria for China to participate in a series of official engagements aimed at enhancing water supply to satellite towns within the territory.
This was revealed in a statement issued by the Minister’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka.
“The FCT Minister is currently in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, en route to China,” Olayinka noted.
During his visit to China, the Minister is scheduled to meet with officials of the China Geo-Engineering Corporation Overseas Construction (CGCOC) Group.

The visit comes in the wake of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s state visit to China in September 2024, which saw the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC) and CGCOC Group to improve electricity and water infrastructure in the FCT.
President Tinubu, under his Renewed Hope agenda, underscored the importance of these projects, particularly the provision of potable water to residents of satellite towns. To support this initiative, the President approved ₦50 billion for the delivery of clean water to communities including Gwagwalada, Kwali, and Kuje Area Councils.
In alignment with this directive, Minister Wike is holding talks with the CGCOC Group in China to expedite project implementation.
