The President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, Senator Azuta Mbata, has inaugurated the 2025 Constitution Review Committee to examine and revise the current constitution of the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation.
The National Publicity Secretary of the organisation, Dr Ezechi Chukwu, disclosed this in a statement issued in Enugu on Monday.
Chukwu listed members of the committee to include Chief Anthony Idigbe (SAN) as Chairman, Chief Dili Biosah, Anozie Obi, Chief Ray Nkemdirim, C.J. Okori-Akirika, Dr Dozie Nwosu, and Dr Boniface Chima.
Other members are Chief David Nwachukwu, Prof. Osita Ogbu, Prof. Fabian Onah, Henry Akunebu (SAN), Mr Calistus Ekenze, Mr Ndubuisi Agumagu, Dr John Okolie, Prof. Chinwe Obaji, Dr Grace Okudo, Mr Okeagu Ogadah, and Chizoba Iheka.
He stated that Senator Mbata underscored the importance of an effective constitution as a vital guide for the optimal administration of the body, and charged the committee to prioritise the wellbeing of the Igbo people in its assignment.

Chukwu added that Mbata hoped to strengthen the Ohanaeze constitution in a way that would promote transparency, credibility, trust, strong grassroots participation, unity, and the general welfare of the Igbo, regardless of their location.
He further stated that the President-General also urged the committee to place the oneness and collective good of the Igbo nation at the forefront of its deliberations.
According to him, the committee has one month to submit its interim report ahead of its presentation to the Imeobi, the highest decision-making organ of the organisation.
He quoted the Chairman of the committee as expressing gratitude to Ohanaeze and to the President-General, in particular, for finding the members worthy of undertaking such a significant task.
“He assured the President-General that his team would do its best to produce the constitution Ohanaeze truly deserves,” Chukwu stated.
