The North Central Grassroots Mobilisation Network says it will hold a mega rally on Saturday in Lafia, Nasarawa State, to demonstrate support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima in the 2027 general elections.
The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, disclosed this on Thursday in Abuja at a pre-rally meeting attended by political stakeholders from across the North-Central region.
Yilwatda said the meeting provided an opportunity for governors, ministers, legislators and other political leaders to review preparations for the rally and agree on strategies for effective mobilisation.
He said the stakeholders had agreed to mobilise their political structures, supporters and grassroots organisations to ensure a successful turnout.
The APC national chairman described the planned gathering as the “mother of all rallies”, saying it would demonstrate the collective political strength and commitment of the North-Central region to Tinubu and Shettima’s re-election bid.
The rally will be hosted by Gov. Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, while the First Lady, Sen. Oluremi Tinubu, is expected to attend as the headline guest.
Yilwatda said the event would also strengthen coordination among party leaders and deepen grassroots engagement across the six North-Central states and the Federal Capital Territory.
He said the mobilisation would involve women, youth groups, grassroots organisations, party members and other supporters from across the region.
According to him, the stakeholders recognise the importance of grassroots mobilisation in consolidating the APC’s support base ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Yilwatda acknowledged the leadership of Sen. George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, in bringing political stakeholders together to strengthen preparations for the rally.
He also commended Sule for agreeing to host the gathering and providing support for its successful organisation.
The stakeholders further emphasised the need for effective coordination among party structures to ensure a peaceful and successful event.
They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the party’s grassroots structures and mobilising support for the Tinubu-Shettima ticket ahead of the elections.
Meanwhile, Yilwatda expressed condolences to the families of victims of the recent Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Ondo State.
He also commiserated with families and communities affected by the recent mining-related tragedy in Niger State.
The meeting was attended by Akume, governors and deputy governors from the North-Central region, ministers, members of the National Assembly and other political office holders.
