The Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig Gen Buba Marwa (Rtd), has pledged to bring to justice those responsible for a violent mob attack on two of its officers during a raid on a suspected drug hub in Abuja.
During his visit to the injured officers at the National Hospital in Abuja, who sustained severe injuries during an operation in the Dawaki district of the Federal Capital Territory on May 15.
Marwa condemned the attack and vowed accountability for those involved.
The officers, identified as Ayegh Dooyun Zachariah and Shehu Jamil Ibrahim, were reportedly attacked by a mob while carrying out a raid on what authorities described as a notorious drug joint.
“The Agency will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that those responsible for this cowardly attack are arrested and brought to justice,”
“An attack on our officers is an attack on the state, and it will not go unpunished,” he said.
Marwa applauded the injured officers for what he described as their bravery, professionalism, and dedication during the high-risk operation.
He also assured them that the agency would fully cover their medical treatment and welfare until they recovered completely.
As part of efforts to recognise their service, the NDLEA chief presented the officers with official Letters of Commendation and additional support packages.
Marwa also commended the agency’s medical personnel and staff at the National Hospital for their swift intervention, saying their response helped stabilise the injured officers.
Despite the attack, he said the NDLEA remained committed to dismantling drug cartels and sanitising communities across the country, insisting that violent resistance from criminal groups would not deter ongoing operations.
