Emeka Obidimma, Anambra State Director of Sports, stated in Awka on Wednesday that the state is deploying a 150-member team, consisting of 100 athletes and 50 officials, for the 22nd National Sports Festival, tagged ‘Gateway Games’, scheduled from 16 to 30 May in Ogun State.
Obidimma said Anambra will compete in 20 events, including Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Boxing, Chess, Darts, Deaf Table Tennis, Karate, Kickboxing, Wushu Kungfu, Para Athletics, Scrabble, Swimming, Taekwondo, Ncho, Volleyball, Weightlifting, and Wrestling.
The team completed a five-day intensive training camp in Awka ahead of their departure on Friday.

He commended Patrick-Estate Onyedum, Chairman of the Anambra State Sports Commission, for his administrative, technical, and logistical support.
Obidimma emphasised the team’s determination to not only participate but also win medals, aiming to surpass their previous record.
He thanked Governor Chukwuma Soludo for his continued support, as well as Onyedum for his leadership.
Anambra won a total of 39 medals at the last festival in Asaba, Delta State, including six gold, nine silver and 24 bronze.
