NABTEB Extends 2026 Technical College Exam Registration

The National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB) has extended the registration period for the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into Federal and State Technical Colleges, assuring candidates and parents of a smooth and stress-free process.

The announcement was made on Sunday in Benin by the board’s Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Mr Aminu Mohammed, through NABTEB’s Deputy Director of Media and Protocol, Mr Uchechukwu Olisah.

Mohammed said the board had approved a four-month registration window to ease pressure on candidates and their families. Registration will open on January 26 and close on May 24, while the nationwide examination is scheduled for June 6.

“The extended timeline is a deliberate measure to give candidates sufficient time to prepare, reduce congestion on the registration platform, and lessen financial and logistical burdens on parents and guardians,” he explained.

The registrar noted that NABTEB had upgraded its administrative and technological systems to ensure that the registration process is user-friendly, reliable, and uninterrupted. “Comprehensive measures have been put in place to guarantee a smooth and efficient registration experience for candidates, parents, guardians, and schools, while upholding the highest standards of examination integrity,” he added.

Mohammed also advised prospective candidates to register exclusively through the official NABTEB online portal, warning against unauthorised agents or third-party platforms. “All applications must be processed via NABTEB’s portal. Candidates and guardians should complete registration well before the deadline to avoid last-minute difficulties,” he said.

Reaffirming NABTEB’s dedication to professionalism and transparency, the CEO emphasised that the board remains committed to expanding access to technical education while maintaining the credibility of its examinations.

He further encouraged young Nigerians to explore opportunities offered by Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), highlighting its role in equipping learners with practical skills for employment, entrepreneurship, and economic independence. “Technical education provides the competencies required for national development. Nigerians are urged to choose skills, embrace opportunity, and secure their future,” Mohammed said.

The registrar concluded by reaffirming NABTEB’s commitment to collaborating with the Federal Ministry of Education and other stakeholders to strengthen skills-based education and support the country’s human capital development.
