The National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB) has released the results of the 2025 June/July National Business Certificate (NBC) and National Technical Certificate (NTC) examinations, showing significant improvements in candidates’ performance, particularly in Mathematics.

The Registrar and Chief Executive Officer, Dr Mohammed Mohammed, announced the results in Abuja on Thursday, stating that a total of 92,875 candidates registered for the examinations across 1,892 centres nationwide. Of these, 89,621 candidates were graded.

According to Dr Mohammed, there was an increase of 37.08 per cent in enrolment and 10.77 per cent in examination centres compared to 2024.

“Out of the 92,875 registered candidates, 89,621 were graded, representing 96.50 per cent of total enrolments. Furthermore, 57,651 (62.07 per cent) were males and 35,224 (37.93 per cent) were females,” he said.

In English Language, 85,476 candidates were graded, with 79,575 (93.10 per cent) passing and 5,901 (6.90 per cent) failing. In comparison, the 2024 results showed 63,866 (95.87 per cent) passing and 2,753 (4.13 per cent) failing.

In Mathematics, 85,805 candidates were graded, with 81,172 (94.60 per cent) passing and 4,633 (5.40 per cent) failing. Comparatively, in 2024, 60,849 (91.39 per cent) passed while 5,738 (8.61 per cent) failed.

“This indicates that more candidates passed Mathematics this year, while slightly fewer candidates passed English Language compared to last year,” Dr Mohammed noted.

On examination malpractice, he revealed that 435 candidates (0.47 per cent) were involved in 516 cases of malpractice, a reduction from 349 candidates (0.52 per cent) involved in 524 cases in 2024.

The NABTEB chief commended the Federal Ministry of Education for its support, particularly in advancing the federal government’s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiatives. He noted that these initiatives align with President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda of equipping Nigerian youths with 21st-century skills to bridge industry skill gaps.

Dr Mohammed urged Nigerians to focus less on paper qualifications and more on skills, emphasising that skills-based knowledge is essential for the country’s overall development.

He also announced that registration for the 2025 November/December NBC/NTC and Advanced NBC/NTC examinations has commenced. Prospective candidates are advised to visit the NABTEB portal at novdec.nabteb.gov.ng or any of its offices nationwide for registration guidelines.
