AC Milan secured a crucial 1-0 victory over AS Roma on Sunday, strengthening their position in the early stages of the Serie A title race.
With just six minutes remaining before half-time, Milan struck through Strahinja Pavlović, who finished off a swift counter-attack initiated by Rafael Leão down the flank.
Although Roma dominated early possession and came close when Paulo Dybala fired narrowly wide, Milan gradually asserted control in the second half and carried the momentum. Goalkeeper Mike Maignan preserved the lead by denying Dybala from the penalty spot in the closing stages.

The win keeps the Scudetto contenders tightly grouped at the top of Serie A, with only one point separating the leading four teams. At the end of the match, Napoli led with 22 points, while Milan, Roma and Inter Milan each sat on 21.
For Milan, the result provided valuable proof of their resilience and tactical discipline. It also signalled that the title race is far from decided — momentum can shift quickly and margins remain slender.
Roma, by contrast, will reflect on an impressive attacking display undermined by a lack of clinical finishing and one decisive lapse.
As the season progresses, both sides will be aware that every point and missed opportunity could prove critical in what is shaping up to be a fiercely contested campaign.
