The President of Mauritius, Dharam Gokhool, has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to deepening cooperation with the People’s Republic of China, pledging stronger collaboration across key sectors including trade, tourism, and sustainable development.
Speaking during a courtesy visit by China’s newly appointed ambassador to Mauritius, Huang Shifang, President Gokhool hailed the longstanding diplomatic relations between the two nations and reiterated Mauritius’s unwavering support for the one-China principle.
He expressed confidence that existing frameworks, such as the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation and the Mauritius-China Free Trade Agreement, would continue to serve as valuable platforms for expanding bilateral engagement. Gokhool noted that these mechanisms are essential for promoting economic resilience, sustainable growth, and shared prosperity.
