Manchester City have added four new players to their squad ahead of the 2025/26 season, as the reigning Premier League champions look to reinforce their title credentials and prepare for the expanded FIFA Club World Cup.
The club’s summer business, already totalling over £116 million, has focused on bolstering key areas of the squad, with a mix of youthful talent and experienced reinforcements.
Reijnders Leads Midfield Overhaul
City’s most expensive acquisition so far is Dutch international Tijjani Reijnders, who joined from AC Milan in a deal worth £46.3 million. The 26-year-old midfielder, known for his dynamic box-to-box style and eye for goal, has signed a five-year deal with the club.
“We’re excited to welcome Tijjani. He’s a complete midfielder with a great engine and a strong sense of positioning. He brings another dimension to our midfield,” a club statement read.
Rayan Aït-Nouri Arrives from Wolves
Defensive depth has also been addressed with the signing of Rayan Aït-Nouri from Wolverhampton Wanderers. The Algerian left-back joined City on 9 June for a reported £36.3 million fee and is expected to compete for a starting role.
The 24-year-old is highly rated for his pace and attacking contribution from the flank. His arrival adds competition for the left-back position, currently occupied by Josko Gvardiol and Sergio Gómez.

French Starlet Cherki Secured from Lyon
In a move that underlines City’s commitment to nurturing future stars, the club signed Rayan Cherki, a versatile French midfielder and winger, from Olympique Lyonnais. The 21-year-old penned a five-year contract, with the transfer fee reportedly in the region of £34 million, plus performance-based add-ons.
Cherki, widely regarded as one of the brightest prospects in European football, is expected to be gradually integrated into Pep Guardiola’s side.
“Rayan is an exceptional talent with huge potential. He’s a player for both the present and future,” said Director of Football Txiki Begiristain.
Bettinelli Adds Experience Between the Posts
City also brought in Marcus Bettinelli from Chelsea to serve as an experienced third-choice goalkeeper. While the fee remains undisclosed, it is believed to be nominal. The 33-year-old arrives with a wealth of Premier League experience and is expected to provide reliable backup to Ederson and Stefan Ortega.
City’s transfer activity reflects their preparations not only for domestic and European competitions but also the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup in the United States, where they will be among the top contenders.
With further reinforcements expected, Manchester City appear determined to maintain their dominance across all fronts while laying the groundwork for long-term success.
