Makinde-Daura Campaign Organisation Inaugurates 2027 Management Committee

The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation (MDPCO) has inaugurated its National Campaign Management Committee (NCMC), charging members to intensify grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 presidential election.

The Vice-Presidential Candidate of the Allied People’s Movement (APM), Alhaji Lawal Daura, gave the charge on Tuesday in Abuja during the inauguration of the committee.

With about 100 days to the election, Daura said the campaign would focus on mobilising support across the country, particularly among Nigeria’s 103 million registered voters.

He described a comprehensive national reset as necessary to address the country’s challenges, saying existing structures and policies would require substantial review and reform.

“Therefore, the resetting is the only solution so far that can get Nigeria right. And by resetting, it means every other thing that has been configured in Nigeria needs to be looked at, amended, changed, replaced, or whatever,” Daura said.

Daura also warned against attempts to manipulate the electoral process, assuring supporters that the campaign organisation would work to protect votes in accordance with the Electoral Act.

“For those who really want to rig, that they can pull a fast one, well, they have a surprise coming,” he said.

He said the committee was made up of people selected on the basis of their experience and record of delivering results, adding that the campaign required individuals with determination, focus and resilience.

“We want boldness. We want focus. We want people with resolve to succeed, people that have never allowed failure to be part of their government,” he said.

The APM National Chairman, Yusuf Dantalle, urged members of the committee to work towards securing victory for the Seyi Makinde-Lawal Daura ticket in 2027.

Dantalle acknowledged that the campaign would face disagreements and other challenges but said the ability to resolve internal differences peacefully would demonstrate the coalition’s readiness to govern.

“How can we deliver the Seyi Makinde and Maman Daura into the pillars come 2027? And to also form the government in Nigeria, which is one goal. It is not an easy task, but that does not make it impossible,” he said.

He urged committee members to draw on their different social, religious and political backgrounds, as well as their experience at local government, state and national levels, to strengthen the campaign.

Dantalle stressed that the inauguration should translate into practical grassroots mobilisation, calling for close coordination between the committee and the party’s structures at all levels.

He said the success of the campaign would ultimately be measured by its ability to convert its mobilisation efforts into electoral victory.

“I appeal to all of us and for those who have been inaugurated today. Yes, while I congratulate you for this achievement, it is in itself not a success until that is able to transform into victory for all of us,” he said.

Responding on behalf of the committee, its Director-General, Mr Felix Hyat, assured the party leadership that members were committed to delivering the campaign’s objectives.

Hyat described the committee members as experienced professionals capable of working together to achieve the desired result.

“Your Excellency, we do not take this opportunity and this honour for granted. May I assure you that the people I see here, I have worked with nearly all of them. There are people who will not tolerate nonsense, even from me, as their leader; they are people you can trust for a good result,” he said.

He expressed confidence in the presidential candidate, particularly his security experience and record in governance in Oyo State.

Hyat also called for greater attention to the principle of regional power rotation and urged northern youths to consider candidates based on their capacity to govern.

He further appealed to voters to reject politics driven by religious and ethnic sentiments and urged young Nigerians to play an active role in determining the country’s leadership through the 2027 general elections.
