Labour Party Celebrates Peter Obi at 64

The national leadership of the Labour Party has extended heartfelt congratulations to its 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, as he marks his 64th birthday.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the National Caretaker Committee Chairman, Senator Esther Nenadi Usman, praised Obi’s “extraordinary courage, humility, resilience, and unwavering belief in a new Nigeria that works for all.”

Senator Usman noted that the party joins “millions of Nigerians both at home and in the diaspora in celebrating Mr. Obi,” describing him as a symbol of renewed hope for a nation in search of transformation.

“Even in the face of recent political developments that have taken an alarming and unprecedented turn, Mr. Obi has remained firm in his noble quest for justice, equity, and good governance,” she said.

She commended the former Anambra State governor for continuing to inspire faith in the possibility of a better Nigeria, despite the challenges faced by the party and its supporters.

“Millions of Nigerians have come to see in him a flicker of hope,” Usman added. “We urge him to remain that beacon of hope to the despondent and long-suffering critical mass of our people.”

Expressing confidence in Obi’s mission, the Labour Party leader expressed optimism that with steadfastness and focus, the vision for a new Nigeria would be fully realised in the near future.

Senator Usman also offered prayers for Mr. Obi, wishing him “many more healthy and fulfilling years ahead.”

Mr. Peter Obi, widely regarded for his reformist approach to governance and prudent leadership, ran for president in 2023 under the Labour Party platform, earning strong youth and urban support and reshaping the nation’s political landscape with his message of accountability and good governance.
