2027 Election: AbdulRazaq Hosts APC Presidential Campaign Council

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has praised Kwara State Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for his leadership and contributions to the party, expressing confidence in continued cooperation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The council, led by its Director-General, Sen. Abdulazeez Yari, gave the commendation during a visit to the governor at Ahmadu Bello House in Ilorin as part of its nationwide consultations ahead of the elections.

Yari said the visit was to acknowledge AbdulRazaq’s support for the APC and seek his continued commitment to the party’s success in Kwara and across the country.

He also recognised the governor’s role in advising President Bola Tinubu and the campaign council, expressing optimism about further collaboration as preparations for the elections intensify.

“Your Excellency, we are here to pay homage. We know, particularly I personally know what you are doing to ensure that APC succeeds not only in Kwara but also in Nigeria,” Yari said.

He added that the governor had consistently demonstrated a strong commitment to advancing the party’s political objectives.

Yari also commended AbdulRazaq for the warm reception accorded the delegation on its arrival at the General Tunde Idiagbon International Airport, Ilorin, describing the gesture as remarkable during the council’s nationwide tour.

In his response, AbdulRazaq congratulated members of the council on their appointments, noting that their experience and contributions to national development reflected the party’s confidence in their ability to deliver on the assignment.

“I congratulate you for being nominated into PCC, the highest organ of our campaign. It’s because the party recognises your capacities, your contribution to nation building and what you can achieve,” he said.

The governor expressed confidence in the APC’s political strength in Kwara, saying the party had maintained its dominance in the state since 2019, while the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had continued to lose ground.

He further argued that reports of support for Tinubu’s re-election bid by the PDP’s national leader and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, could boost the APC’s prospects in the state.

AbdulRazaq also highlighted his administration’s achievements in infrastructure, education, healthcare and public service, citing improvements in the payment of salaries, pensions and gratuities.

He singled out the technology-based KwaraLEARN programme in public primary schools, which he said had helped reduce absenteeism and improve learning outcomes.

On the state’s political future, the governor expressed confidence in the APC’s governorship candidate, Salihu Yakubu Danladi, the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, describing him as a grassroots politician familiar with the administration’s policies and programmes.

He also pointed to the experience of the party’s deputy governorship candidate, Seun Oguniyi Adato, who is a serving member of the state assembly.

The delegation included former governors Aminu Bello Masari, Rochas Okorocha, Ali Modu Sheriff, Adamu Aliero, Abubakar Badaru, Ibrahim Shema, Sani Yerima, Danjuma Goje, Abdullahi Ganduje and Olusegun Mimiko.

Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Dimeji Bankole and former lawmaker Olubunmi Ette were also members of the delegation.

The visit also featured an engagement with the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Danladi, Adato, the state APC Chairman, Sunday Fagbemi, and other government officials.

As part of its engagements in Ilorin, the council paid homage to the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, to seek his prayers and blessings for Tinubu and other APC candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
