Kwara Reaffirms Support for MSMEs

The Kwara State Government has reiterated its strong commitment to fostering an enabling environment for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to thrive across the state.

This commitment aligns with Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s broader vision for inclusive economic growth and sustainable development across key sectors.

Dr Hauwa Nuru, the Commissioner for Finance, made this known at the ‘Ilorin Naija Brand Chick Trade Fair’ held on Sunday at the Government House Banquet Hall, Ilorin.

The two-day event, supported by the state government and sponsored by Wema Bank, aimed to strengthen local entrepreneurship and stimulate economic activity.

Nuru described the trade fair as a valuable opportunity for entrepreneurs to access wider markets, enhance visibility, and secure long-term business growth.

She highlighted the work of the Kwara State Ease of Doing Business Council in addressing key challenges faced by businesses, particularly in areas such as finance and land access.

“Under Governor AbdulRazaq’s leadership, we’ve seen significant infrastructure improvements from innovation hubs to better transport links making the state more business-friendly,” she said.

She added that these developments had attracted investment and strengthened many local businesses, reinforcing government support for MSMEs as vital drivers of job creation and economic progress.

Nuru encouraged stakeholders to participate actively in economic ventures and take full advantage of government-backed initiatives to position Kwara on the global economic map.

Exhibitors at the fair expressed appreciation to the state government. Entrepreneur Nifemi Olaonipekun said the initiative helped increase sales and customer engagement.

A visitor, Hajia Sherifat Umar, praised the range and affordability of locally made products on display, describing the fair as a welcome boost for indigenous enterprise.
