The 16 Local Government Area (LGA) Party Secretaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State have reaffirmed their unflinching support for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, passing a vote of confidence in his leadership and cautioning against early politicking ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
The declaration followed a strategic meeting convened at the Ilorin West APC Secretariat, coordinated by Jimba Abdulkadir. In a joint statement issued after the meeting, the secretaries commended Governor AbdulRazaq for what they described as “visible and impactful achievements” across key sectors, including education, healthcare, infrastructure, social welfare, and youth empowerment.
“His Excellency has repositioned Kwara for sustainable growth and development. His achievements have rekindled public confidence in governance,” the statement read.
The group also applauded the state APC Chairman, Sunday Fagbemi, for promoting party unity and stability. Special recognition was given to the State APC Secretary, Alhaji Mustapha Ishowo, for what they called “inclusive and supportive leadership at the grassroots.”

Warning Against Early 2027 Campaigns
However, the secretaries raised concerns over what they described as “unhealthy political distractions” arising from premature discussions surrounding the 2027 governorship race.
“The cacophony of premature talks about succession and zoning politics is not only unnecessary but harmful to the smooth delivery of governance. Zoning remains a matter solely within the prerogative of the party leadership and our leader, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq,” they emphasised.
They called on the party hierarchy to take disciplinary action against individuals already engaging in early campaign activities, warning that such actions could destabilise the party’s cohesion and distract from its current mandate.
Reaffirming their loyalty to the APC and Governor AbdulRazaq, the secretaries pledged to remain a united front in strengthening the party’s structure at the grassroots, ensuring discipline, and sustaining support for the administration across all 16 LGAs of the state.
