Dr Oliver Agundu, the newly appointed Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Kogi State, has cautioned staff of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) against absenteeism, laxity, and indolence in the discharge of their duties.
Agundu gave the warning on Thursday during a meeting with management and Electoral Officers at the INEC State Office on Marine Road, Lokoja.
He explained that the meeting was convened to familiarise staff with his leadership approach, vision, and mission aimed at enhancing the commission’s operations for credible elections in the state.
The REC urged the staff to remain committed and diligent in their roles to help the commission achieve its objectives in Kogi.
“As INEC staff, you must always be present at your duty post to learn and perform well, so we can deliver good results.
“I, as your leader, will be consistently present in carrying out my duties. I expect the same level of commitment from every one of you.
“I’m a team player and I lead by example,” he said.

He further appealed for staff cooperation, emphasising the importance of collective effort.
“If you don’t have followers as a leader, you’re only taking a walk,” he added.
In response, Mr Bako Musa, Electoral Officer for Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area, pledged full cooperation and support on behalf of the staff to ensure the REC’s success in Kogi State.
