Legendary Nigerian musician, King Sunny Ade, has spoken out to refute recent claims about his alleged disappearance and kidnapping. The rumors surfaced after his daughter, Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye, took to social media to allege that the Juju music icon was being held against his will by his manager and stepson, Dayo Adegeye.

In a video statement, the 78-year-old musician assured his fans and the public that he was in good health, dismissing the reports as completely false. “I thank God and all my people all over the world. I’m grateful. My children and everybody want to see me. It was in the middle of when I went to rest that they thought I was abducted,” King Sunny Ade said. “I wasn’t kidnapped and taken anywhere. I also did not abduct myself. I’m grateful to God,” he added, addressing the concerns that had spread widely online.

King Sunny Ade, who had recently performed at an event in Lekki, Lagos State, pointed out that he had been actively attending to his professional commitments and was on his way to another show at the time. “I wondered why people are saying I am being kidnapped. Nobody kidnapped me,” he said, expressing his confusion over the rumors.

The musician took the opportunity to issue a stern warning to those spreading false information, particularly bloggers and online influencers. He cautioned that legal action would be taken against anyone tarnishing his reputation. “It is very important to address the falsehood and fabricated news by Damilola Esther Adeniyi-Adegeye and her associates and to assure the general public and loved ones that I am alive and safe,” King Sunny Ade declared.

In support of their father, his son, Emperor Adegeye, also dismissed the claims, affirming that King Sunny Ade was not under any duress and was in good health. The entire Adegeye family has come together to dispel the damaging rumors, reinforcing the message that the music icon is well and unharmed.

Fans of the celebrated musician, who had been anxiously awaiting clarification, have now been reassured of his well-being. King Sunny Ade’s return to the spotlight in the wake of these false reports serves as a testament to his enduring legacy in the Nigerian music scene and his unshaken status as one of the most iconic figures in Juju music.
