The Kebbi State Government has concluded all necessary arrangements for the airlift of 3,800 intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage.

The Amirul Hajj and Emir of Argungu, Alhaji Sama’ila Muhammadu Mera, announced that the first batch of pilgrims is scheduled to depart from Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport, Birnin Kebbi, on 9 May 2025.

Speaking at an inaugural meeting with government representatives and officials of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Mera confirmed that all logistical preparations have been finalised to ensure a smooth and uninterrupted exercise.

“All arrangements have been completed to guarantee the seamless departure of pilgrims without any disruptions,” he said.

In a bid to protect pilgrims from exploitation and irregularities in foreign exchange, the Emir noted that pilgrims will receive their Basic Travel Allowance (BTA) in cash, in Saudi Riyals, under a newly introduced system.

He also expressed appreciation to Governor Nasir Idris for his unwavering support and trust in the Hajj committee, which he said has enabled the planning process to progress smoothly.

“As Amirul Hajj, I reaffirm our readiness to work closely with the Pilgrims Welfare Agency to ensure the successful execution of this year’s Hajj exercise,” he added.

Agency Assures of Adequate Support

The Executive Chairman of the Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Alhaji Faruk Aliyu Yaro, pledged the agency’s full cooperation with the government delegation and affirmed that all essential arrangements, including accommodation, feeding, and transportation, had been secured for the pilgrims’ stay in Saudi Arabia.

Flynas has been contracted as the official carrier for the 2025 pilgrimage. The airline is expected to operate ten flights, each transporting approximately 420 pilgrims from Birnin Kebbi directly to Madinah, beginning on 9 May.

Vaccination Commences at Hajj Camp

To ensure compliance with health and travel regulations, the Amirul Hajj and members of the government delegation received vaccinations at the Hajj Camp in Birnin Kebbi. The exercise marks the official commencement of vaccination for all intending pilgrims.

Recipients were issued the mandatory “Yellow Card” as part of national and international health requirements for the pilgrimage.
