The Emir of Ilorin, Dr Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has called on players of Kwara United Football Club to remain focused and determined as they prepare for the 2025 President’s Federation Cup final.

The final is set to take place on 28 June at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, where Kwara United will face Abakaliki FC.

Speaking on Tuesday in Ilorin during a visit by the team to his palace, the Emir expressed his full support for the club’s efforts to secure the prestigious title for the state.

“I was once an official of Shooting Stars and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). I know what is at stake in a crucial match like this. Prepare well, remain focused, and stay united. We will continue to pray for your success,” he said.

Dr Sulu-Gambari praised the team for their achievements so far and highlighted the significance of discipline, unity, and hard work in their pursuit of victory.

He also reminded the players that winning the cup would bring great pride not only to the Ilorin Emirate but to the entire state.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Malam Idris Musa, described the Emir’s blessings as a constant source of encouragement for the team.

He noted that “if the team triumphs in Lagos, the palace would be the first place they would bring the trophy in appreciation.”

A special prayer session for the success of the team was led by the former Grand Khadi of the Kwara Sharia Court of Appeal, Justice Idris Haroon.
