The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mr Nyesom Wike, has congratulated Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State on the Appeal Court judgment which upheld his victory in the September 2024 governorship election.

In a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday by his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Mr Lere Olayinka, Wike urged Governor Okpebholo to remain committed to serving the people of Edo State.

He described the court’s decision as “a further confirmation of the mandate freely and genuinely given” to Okpebholo by the electorate.

The minister encouraged the governor to stay focused on delivering good governance and ensuring the people enjoy the dividends of democracy.

“I have observed his leadership since assuming office and I can affirm that he has been performing commendably for Edo and its citizens. I believe in his capacity and am confident that his administration will leave a sustainable impact on the state,” Wike stated.

He also called on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Mr Asue Ighodalo, to accept the judgment of the court in the interest of peace and progress in Edo State.

“Accept the verdict and let the electoral matters be laid to rest,” Wike added.
