Defence HQ Refutes Fake Video on Forced Recruitment

The Defence Headquarters has dismissed a circulating video falsely portraying Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, as advocating the forced recruitment of young Nigerians into the military.

In a statement, Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Samaila Uba, said the military remains a noble profession, attracting thousands of patriotic Nigerians who willingly join its ranks during various recruitment exercises across the three arms of the service.

Brigadier General Uba emphasised that the purported statement was never issued by the Chief of Defence Staff or any of the Service Chiefs. He urged the public to disregard the video, describing it as a calculated attempt to undermine the professionalism of the Nigerian Military.
