The Federal Government has approved the construction of two flyovers and an underpass in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The approval followed a request by Governor Abdullahi Sule, conveyed through the Minister of Works, Senator Dave Umahi.

Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Affairs, Peter Ahemba, disclosed this during a bimonthly press briefing in Lafia, the state capital.

Ahemba reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to completing the Karu flyovers and underpass projects before the end of Governor Sule’s tenure in 2027.

He explained that the Sule-led administration had already earmarked funds for the projects even before they were formally conceived, in line with its policy of financial prudence and ensuring the completion of all ongoing works.

“Since the inception of this administration in 2019, the government has always ensured that funds are set aside before embarking on any project. Governor Sule does not believe in wasting public resources or abandoning projects midway,” Ahemba stated.

According to him, the projects are designed to address persistent traffic congestion along the busy Karu–Mararaba corridor and to improve road safety and quality.

“This development is part of the government’s effort to provide lasting solutions to traffic challenges. It will ease movement for residents, motorists, and travellers, while also enhancing road durability,” he added.

He further revealed that Governor Sule has directed the Nasarawa State Urban Development Agency (NUDA) to conduct a feasibility study to determine suitable locations for the flyovers and underpass and to prepare technical details for the subsequent award of contracts.

Ahemba assured that the state government remains resolute in delivering all infrastructure projects within the current administration’s tenure, stressing that both ongoing and new projects will be completed before 2027.
