The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has announced that the second stage of its ongoing recruitment exercise will run from 14 to 21 September.
NCS Spokesman, Abdullahi Maiwada, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja. He said the stage would involve an online Computer-Based Test (CBT), reflecting the Service’s commitment to transparency, accessibility and fairness in its selection process.

According to Maiwada, the Service received 573,523 applications after advertising 3,927 vacancies across the Superintendent, Inspectorate and Customs Assistant cadres on 27 December 2024. Following documentary screening, 286,697 candidates were shortlisted for the CBT.
He explained that the test could be taken from any location with reliable internet access but must be conducted using a laptop or desktop computer with a webcam and full-screen display, as the application is not mobile-enabled.
“A facial verification process will be carried out during login; therefore, candidates are advised to maintain a neat appearance to avoid difficulties with recognition,” he stated.
He added that the application is sensitive to noise and movement, warning that excessive movement, whispering or distractions could result in automatic log-out, while switching between windows may be flagged as malpractice and could lead to disqualification.
To ensure candidates are adequately prepared, a mandatory pre-test exercise will be held two days before the main CBT, with separate links provided for both sessions.
Maiwada further noted that only applicants for the Superintendent Cadre would be invited for an additional CBT in the next phase of the process.
He assured that the recruitment remains transparent and strictly merit-based, stressing that successful candidates would be informed of subsequent stages through official communication channels.
“Applicants are strongly advised to adhere strictly to the issued guidelines and to rely solely on verified official platforms of the Service for authentic updates, as NCS will neither request payment nor conduct recruitment activities on social media,” he said.
Maiwada added that the recruitment drive aligns with NCS’s statutory mandate to strengthen manpower capacity and improve service delivery.
