Team Nigeria to depart for Kigali, Rwanda, to participate in the 11th edition of the Kwibuka T20 Women’s Cricket Tournament.
The 14-player squad, accompanied by six officials, is scheduled to leave the country on Sunday evening via Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos.
This marks Nigeria’s fifth appearance in the tournament, with their best performance recorded in 2024 when they finished fourth out of eight participating teams.
Speaking in an interview, Head Coach Leke Oyede expressed optimism about the team’s prospects, citing the players’ recent involvement in the National Sports Festival as a key part of their preparation.

“Although we’re without three important players Piety Lucky, Peculiar Agboya, and Victory Igbenedion due to academic commitments, the squad remains well-balanced and fully prepared,” he said.
“We are determined to surpass our previous performance and make a strong impression at this year’s tournament.”
A total of nine teams are expected to compete in the annual tournament, which honours the memory of victims of the 1994 Genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda.
