Nigerian sprint sensation, Favour Ofili, made history on Saturday at the 2025 Adidas Atlanta City Games by becoming the first woman to run the 150m in under 16 seconds. Competing at the vibrant Piedmont Park in Atlanta, the 22-year-old stormed to a world record time of 15.85 seconds, rewriting the record books and delivering one of the most memorable performances of the event.

Ofili shattered the previous record of 16.23 seconds, set by Bahamian Olympic champion Shaunae Miller-Uibo in 2018. Her remarkable run headlined what proved to be a commanding presence by Team Nigeria at the elite street athletics meet.

Tobi Amusan Advances with Strong Showing in 100m Hurdles

Also impressive on the track was Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan, the reigning world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles. Amusan continued her steady return to top form by clocking 12.53 seconds to finish second in her heat behind America’s Keni Harrison (12.44s), thus securing her place in the final.

The Nigerian hurdler has shown consistent improvement in recent meets, having recorded times of 12.74 seconds in Xiamen and 12.66 seconds in Keqiao. Her performance in Atlanta suggests she is well on course to peak in time for this summer’s international championships.
