Cricket: Nigeria Beat Sierra Leone Again in Trophy Tournament

Nigeria recorded her third victory against Sierra Leone on Matchday 7, defeating their West African rivals by 68 runs at the second West Africa Trophy tournament.

The third round of matches commenced at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium on Thursday, with a spirited Zambian team securing a 23-run victory over Rwanda.

Rwanda had beaten the Zambians in their first two meetings in the tournament but failed to record a third win against the side.

Meanwhile, in the second game of the day, Nigeria won the toss and elected to bat first.

The Patriots were clumsy in the field, leaking unnecessary runs as the Nigerian batters capitalised on their errors to post 171/7 in 20 overs.

Danladi Isaac’s 64 runs off 35 balls were instrumental to Nigeria’s total.

In the chase, Sierra Leone fell short by 68 runs, with only Abubakar Kamara contributing 29 runs off 25 balls — the Patriots’ best batting performance.

Nigeria restricted their visitors to 103/10 in 19.3 overs, sealing a 68-run victory.

Nigeria will face Zambia on Friday.
