Brazil has launched new artificial intelligence (AI) initiatives at the BRICS High-Level Forum on AI, co-organised with China, aiming to promote ethical, sustainable, and independent technological development.
The announcement was made by the Brazilian Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, with the country’s Secretary for Digital Transformation, Henrique Miguel, outlining a national AI strategy. The plan includes the deployment of one of the world’s five most powerful supercomputers, powered entirely by renewable energy, and the production of high-performance processors in collaboration with global partners.

“Our goal is to provide Brazil with advanced infrastructure, train highly skilled professionals, and stimulate innovation in strategic sectors,” Miguel stated.
The forum also featured the presentation of major analytical reports, including a forecast for AI development across BRICS nations and a compendium of current AI products and applications.
Brazil stressed the importance of enhancing cooperation in critical areas such as semiconductors, large language models, quantum technologies, and data management highlighting the broader agenda for technological advancement and South-South collaboration.
