The South African Ambassador to Ethiopia, Nonceba Losi, has reaffirmed her country’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Ethiopia, with particular focus on enhancing tourism cooperation within the BRICS framework.

Ambassador Losi announced that the South African Embassy in Ethiopia is working on concrete proposals and programmes to promote tourism exchanges between the two nations.

In an interview with the Ethiopian News Agency (ENA), a partner of TV BRICS, Losi highlighted the longstanding cordial relations between South Africa and Ethiopia across various sectors.

She noted that Ethiopia’s accession to BRICS has opened up fresh opportunities for collaboration, particularly in the tourism industry.

“There is an established platform for tourism ministers under BRICS, and we are keen to encourage member countries to engage with and visit one another,” she said.

With BRICS representing a vast population, we can harness this for economic growth and increased tourism flows.”

Ambassador Losi also underscored the potential for technical cooperation, pointing to the expertise of South African wildlife rangers who could support Ethiopia in protecting and managing its nature reserves.

She reiterated that the Embassy would focus on formulating practical initiatives to strengthen tourism ties, including efforts to attract more South African visitors to Ethiopia.
