Chairman of the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC), Mr. Christopher Maikalangu, on Wednesday received his Certificate of Return from the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja.
Maikalangu emerged victorious in the APC primary election for the AMAC Chairmanship, held on June 25, 2025, securing 51 votes.
According to the timetable released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections are scheduled to take place on February 26, 2026.
Addressing party members after receiving his Certificate of Return, Maikalangu expressed confidence in the APC’s chances in the upcoming elections. He stated that his re-election would allow him to build on the dividends of democracy he has delivered to AMAC residents since assuming office in 2022.
He urged party members to remain united, emphasizing that internal divisions would only weaken the party’s position.
“The Certificate of Return confirms that I am the APC candidate for the AMAC Chairmanship election in 2026. In the APC, we are one family,” Maikalangu said.

Maikalangu also echoed the call by the FCT Minister, Mr. Nyesom Wike, on the importance of voter registration. He urged all eligible supporters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to ensure a strong turnout for the APC during the elections.
In a final appeal, Maikalangu called on his fellow contestants to join forces with him for the party’s success, saying:“we are going to make it, inshallah.”
