England international Trent Alexander-Arnold has officially signed a six-year deal with Real Madrid, ending his lengthy tenure with Liverpool.
The 26-year-old right-back, who rose through the ranks at Anfield, completed the high-profile switch after the Spanish giants paid a €10 million (£8.4 million) fee to secure his early release from Liverpool. The move enables Alexander-Arnold to be registered in time for the FIFA Club World Cup, which kicks off in the United States on 14 June.
Alexander-Arnold, widely regarded as one of the most technically gifted full-backs of his generation, leaves Liverpool having made 354 appearances, scoring 23 goals and contributing 92 assists. During his time at the Merseyside club, he lifted nine major trophies, including two Premier League titles, a UEFA Champions League title, and a FIFA Club World Cup.
The England defender will now reunite with international teammate Jude Bellingham at the Santiago Bernabéu and play under former Liverpool midfielder Xabi Alonso, who recently took charge of the La Liga side.

Real Madrid had been seeking reinforcement at right-back, especially with veteran Dani Carvajal struggling with injuries. Alexander-Arnold is expected to bring both creativity and stability to the position, further strengthening a squad that already boasts an enviable depth of talent.
In a statement, Liverpool expressed gratitude to Alexander-Arnold for his contributions over the past two decades, praising his professionalism and commitment to the club’s success.
The transfer marks the end of an era for Liverpool, with the departure of a homegrown talent who played a pivotal role in the club’s recent golden period. Meanwhile, for Alexander-Arnold, the move represents a fresh challenge and an opportunity to compete at the highest level in Spain.
The deal is effective from 1 June 2025.
