The All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Adamawa State, Mustapha Salihu, has pledged to address insecurity and promote development across communities in the state if elected governor in 2027.
Salihu, the immediate past APC National Vice Chairman (North-East), made the pledge during separate courtesy visits to the traditional rulers of Madagali, Michika, and Mubi on Monday.
The aspirant said his administration would consolidate on the achievements of Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in key sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, and youth empowerment.
According to him, his background as a lawyer, political analyst, and security expert places him in a strong position to contribute meaningfully to peace and stability in Adamawa, particularly in communities within the northern zone bordering the Sambisa Forest, which is affected by insurgent activities.
Salihu commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, for ongoing efforts to address security challenges in the country.
He expressed optimism that stronger collaboration between the state and the Federal Government under the APC would attract more democratic dividends, create employment opportunities, and reduce poverty in the state.
In their separate remarks, the traditional rulers commended the visit and urged the aspirant to prioritise youth empowerment and job creation as part of efforts to curb insecurity.
The Paramount Ruler of Michika, Prof. Luka Gadiga, assured Salihu of support and encouraged him to sustain developmental projects and programmes that would improve the living conditions of residents.
Similarly, the Ptil of Madagali, represented by Alhaji Mustapha Sinusi, urged the aspirant to build on the legacies of Governor Fintiri and intensify efforts to address security challenges facing communities in the state.
Also speaking, the Speaker of the Adamawa State House of Assembly, Bathiya Wesley, described Salihu as a grassroots politician with the credibility and capacity to govern the state.
He called on traditional rulers and residents to support the aspirant in his quest to lead Adamawa.
