The President of the Nigeria Hockey Federation (NHF), Simon Nkom, has been elected into the Executive Board of the African Hockey Federation (AfHF). His election took place on Thursday during the federation’s 25th Ordinary Congress held in Ismailia, Egypt.
The congress, which gathered top hockey administrators and stakeholders from across the continent, marked a significant moment in shaping the future of hockey administration in Africa.
Nkom’s election is widely seen as recognition of his longstanding commitment and contributions to the development of hockey in Nigeria and across the continent.
In his acceptance remarks, Nkom expressed gratitude to his colleagues for the trust placed in him and pledged to work tirelessly toward advancing the game of hockey at the continental level.
The congress also honoured Nigeria’s Professor Ediga Agbo, who completed a decade-long tenure as a member of the AfHF Executive Board. He was specially recognised by the President of the International Hockey Federation (FIH), Tayyab Ikram, and the AfHF President, Seif Ahmed, for his outstanding service to African hockey.
The Nigeria Hockey Federation described the achievements of both Nkom and Agbo as a reflection of the country’s growing prominence in African hockey and a testament to their shared vision for sustainable development of the sport.
