Veteran Nollywood actor Steve Eboh was inaugurated as Chairman of the seven-member National Electoral Committee (AGNEC) of the Actors Guild of Nigeria during a press conference on Thursday at the guild’s national secretariat in Abuja, ahead of the upcoming national elections.
The committee includes Blessing Edward as Secretary, with Sandra Okereke, Usman Galadima, Kemi Adekomi, Leo Ewuzie, and Elizabeth Ofuani as members.
In his acceptance speech, Eboh widely known as Ajebo pledged the committee’s dedication to conducting a transparent and credible election.
“I accept the position of National Chairman of AGNEC, and on behalf of the committee, I assure you we will do our best for the guild.
“We will ensure that this election not only continues the unity experienced during this tenure but also sustains the legacy.
“Our goal is for the election to be free, fair, just, and acceptable to all. After this election, the AGN will be more united than ever,” he said.
Eboh, a former vice president and chairman of the AGN National Caretaker Committee, has a strong reputation for overseeing dispute-free elections. He previously chaired AGNEC during the 2019 guild election in Uyo and served again in 2022 when the guild held elections in Benin City.
Earlier, Dr. Emeka Rollas, National President of the AGN, charged the committee to uphold transparency and fairness in the electoral process.
Dr. Rollas, currently serving his final tenure, emphasized that the committee members were drawn from across the country and ratified by the guild’s Board of Trustees.

“I urge the committee to discharge this duty with absolute impartiality, diligence, and integrity. The credibility of this election and the trust of our members rest in your hands.
“Let this election be remembered as one that preserved unity and set a high standard for democratic governance within the guild,” he said.
“As many of you know, I am nearing the end of my tenure as National President of this noble guild.
“When I assumed office over seven years ago, I made a solemn promise to lead with integrity, serve with purpose, and contribute meaningfully to the growth and vision of the AGN.
“Today, I proudly reflect on our collective achievements, made possible through the dedication of a committed team, steadfast stakeholders, and our resilient membership.”
