NAHCON Reaffirms Commitment to 2026 Hajj Pilgrims Welfare

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has announced a ₦200,000 reduction in service charges for each Nigerian pilgrim participating in the 2026 Hajj.

The discount follows the Commission’s successful negotiations during its recent preparatory visit to Saudi Arabia, aimed at improving service quality and making the pilgrimage more affordable.

NAHCON Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Kano State on the Commission’s plans and achievements ahead of next year’s Hajj operations.

He described the visit to Saudi Arabia as “highly successful,” noting that one of the major outcomes was the agreement on reduced costs for pilgrims.

“This aligns with President Ahmed Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda and demonstrates NAHCON’s commitment to making Hajj more affordable for Nigerian Muslims,” he said.

According to him, the trip also focused on improving service arrangements and ensuring early preparations for a seamless Hajj experience.

Professor Usman said NAHCON finalised key service contracts with two major Saudi partners  Mashariq Zahbiyya Company for Masha’ir services and Dalilil Ma’alim Company for transportation both selected for their efficiency and strong performance in previous pilgrimages.

He added that the Commission secured premium accommodation and catering arrangements in Medina’s Markaziyya area at competitive rates, ensuring comfort and convenience for pilgrims.

The NAHCON Chairman also confirmed strengthened collaboration with the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to address lessons from the 2025 operations.

In furtherance of its early preparation strategy, NAHCON has inaugurated the 2026 Hajj Tour Operators Screening Committee, tasked with ensuring that only qualified and compliant tour operators are accredited to serve Nigerian pilgrims.

Professor Usman reaffirmed NAHCON’s resolve to uphold transparency, affordability, and efficiency in all aspects of the 2026 Hajj operations.
