The Zamfara State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has commended the appointment of Alhaji Sanusi Garba Rikiji, former Speaker of the State House of Assembly, as the Director-General of the Nigerian Office for Trade Negotiations (NOTN).
The commendation was made in a statement released on Sunday by the APC State Publicity Secretary, Malam Yusuf Idris, in Gusau.
Rikiji, a seasoned public servant, previously served as Zamfara State Commissioner of Finance and Chief of Staff to the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila.
The party, under the leadership of Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, described President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s decision to appoint Rikiji as a “welcome development” and a clear reflection of the President’s commitment to competent and visionary leadership.
“We are confident that Rikiji will contribute significantly to advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda by introducing innovative strategies aimed at transforming Nigeria’s trade landscape,” the statement read.
Idris noted that Rikiji’s leadership at NOTN is expected to enhance the country’s trade negotiations both locally and internationally, particularly in his new role as Nigeria’s representative to the World Trade Organization (WTO).
The party expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for the appointment, describing it as recognition of Rikiji’s dedication, capacity, and long-standing contributions to national development.
“No doubt, Mr. President has extended love and confidence to the good people of Zamfara.
“APC under will continue to be loyal to Tinubu’s administration, all his good policies and programmes to further transform Nigeria,” Idris said.
The party leadership, while congratulating the new appointee, urged him to continue to be a reference point at all times as a good ambassador of Zamfara and Nigeria.
“We urge him not to relent in his efforts of positive ideas and progressive approach to issues that are of benefit to the citizens and the success of President Tinubu’s development.
“We sincerely thank the President for the appointment and assure him that our son will deliver the national task given to him as expected.
“The party prays Allah to guide and continue to protect President Bola Tinubu and his administration in steering the affairs of this country,” he added.
