Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja to represent President Bola Tinubu at the inauguration of Guinea-Conakry’s newly elected President, Mamadi Doumbouya.
The ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, 17 January, at the GLC Stadium in Nongo, Conakry. VP Shettima’s participation underscores Nigeria’s commitment to regional leadership and support for Guinea’s return to constitutional governance after a four-year transitional period.
“This engagement reflects Nigeria’s role within ECOWAS and our commitment to fostering stability and cooperation in the region,” a presidential aide said.
In addition to diplomatic representation, the visit is expected to bolster bilateral trade, which has recently grown, with Nigerian exports particularly manufactured goods and agricultural products to Guinea reaching $3.29 million.
