Russia’s ruling United Russia party has secured a clear victory in the parliamentary election, winning 57.83 per cent of the vote after more than 95 per cent of ballots had been counted, the Central Election Commission said on Monday.
The election was presented by President Vladimir Putin as a test of public support for Russia’s war in Ukraine.
United Russia’s share of the vote was higher than the 49.8 per cent it recorded in the 2021 State Duma election, according to the commission.

The result is expected to give the party 355 seats in the 450-member State Duma, the lower house of parliament.
The outcome would allow United Russia to retain its constitutional majority in the legislature.
