President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has submitted the 2025 budget proposal for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), totalling ₦1.78 trillion, to the House of Representatives for consideration.
The proposal was formally presented in a letter read on the floor of the House by Speaker Tajudeen Abbas.
In the letter, President Tinubu emphasised that 85 per cent of the capital expenditure is earmarked for the completion of ongoing projects across the nation’s capital, while the remaining 15 per cent is allocated to new initiatives.
He stated that the proposed budget prioritises strategic investments in key sectors, including healthcare, job creation, youth empowerment, education, social welfare, agriculture, and security.

“Our objective is to lift as many of our citizens out of poverty as we can,” the President said.
According to the budget breakdown, the proposed total expenditure for the FCT in 2025 is ₦1,783,823,708,392. Tinubu noted that this figure is based on projected revenues and aligns with the administration’s agenda of improving infrastructure and enhancing the standard of living for residents of the capital.
The President urged lawmakers to give the proposal swift and favourable consideration.
“I hereby forward the 2025 FCT statutory budget proposal and trust that it will receive expeditious consideration and passage by the House of Representatives,” the letter concluded.
