President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reassured Nigerians that the country will overcome the recent surge in violence and security breaches, stressing that those attempting to destabilise the nation will not succeed against his administration’s resolve to restore peace and stability.
The President gave the assurance in a statement posted on his official X handle, @OfficialABAT, after presiding over an extended high-level security meeting at the State House, Abuja.
The meeting brought together key defence and intelligence chiefs, including the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Wahidi Shaibu; the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun; and the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Oluwatosin Adeola Ajayi.
President Tinubu said the government was reviewing the latest security reports and taking decisive steps to stabilise affected areas and protect citizens. He noted that he continues to receive briefings and has directed the security services to respond with “speed, precision, and unwavering resolve.”

Reaffirming his commitment to citizens’ safety, the President stressed that, as Commander-in-Chief, he remains fully dedicated to securing the lives and property of all Nigerians.
He stated:
“I am currently in an extended security meeting with heads of our defence and intelligence apparatus including the Chief of Defence Staff, Chief of Army Staff, Inspector-General of Police, Director-General of the DSS, at the State House.
“We are reviewing the latest reports and taking decisive actions to stabilise the affected areas and protect our citizens. I am receiving continuous briefings and have directed our security services to move with speed, precision, and absolute resolve.
“As President, I am fully committed to the security of all Nigerians. Those who threaten the peace and security of our nation will face the full weight of the law.”
He further warned that anyone attempting to undermine the peace and stability of the country will be met with firm legal consequences.
The security session formed part of the President’s continued engagement with key stakeholders as the government intensifies efforts to confront emerging security threats, accelerate rescue and counter-kidnapping operations, and strengthen nationwide measures to restore peace and safeguard citizens.
