President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Wednesday hosted Pastor Tunde Bakare, Founder of Citadel Global Community Church, at his private residence in Ikoyi, Lagos. The cleric used the visit to express his hopes for a more united and prosperous Nigeria.
Speaking to journalists after the closed-door meeting, Pastor Bakare described the engagement as productive, stating that he had shared his vision of a functional Nigeria that works for all its citizens.
“My vision is to see a nation that works, and I have discussed those ideas with Mr President. These are not secrets,” he said.
Although he refrained from disclosing specific details of the conversation, Bakare expressed confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership and his ability, with divine guidance, to act in the country’s best interest.
“In my experience, once you’ve spoken to the person in charge, you leave them to act as they deem fit. I had a private conversation with Mr President, and I’m pleased with the reception. I trust that God will help our nation,” he said.
The former presidential aspirant and long-standing advocate for national transformation voiced optimism that Tinubu’s leadership would steer Nigeria away from decline and towards lasting recovery.
“God granting him wisdom will help this nation not to falter, but to bounce back and leave an indelible mark,” Bakare added.

Calling for greater unity across regions and ethnic lines, the cleric urged Nigerians to work collaboratively for national progress.
“I want to see Nigerians truly acting as one another’s keeper. I want to see strong cooperation between the best of the North and the South to move this nation forward,” he noted.
He also called for decisive steps to address persistent socioeconomic issues.
“We need to move beyond long-standing discussions and begin to take real action. It’s time to ensure that the masses no longer live in extreme poverty,” Bakare emphasised.
Although the presidency has yet to issue an official statement on the meeting, the encounter appeared cordial and underscored shared concerns about national development and inclusive governance.
