Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has extended warm congratulations to renowned diplomat and former Commonwealth Secretary-General, Chief Emeka Anyaoku, as he marks his 93rd birthday, hailing him as a distinguished patriot and an international statesman.
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Press Secretary, Christian Aburime, the governor praised Chief Anyaoku as a towering figure in global diplomacy whose exceptional career has brought lasting honour to Nigeria, Africa and Anambra State in particular.
Governor Soludo recalled Anyaoku’s landmark service as the third Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, noting that his tenure set a high standard for international leadership through effective conflict mediation and steadfast promotion of democracy, human rights and sustainable development.

“On the world stage, Chief Anyaoku embodied the finest values of our homeland, wisdom, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to the common good,” Soludo said.
He noted that within Nigeria, the elder statesman continues to command deep respect as a source of wisdom and moral guidance, admired for his intellectual depth, principled outlook and enduring love for the country. The governor added that Anyaoku’s advice, forged through decades of selfless and exemplary service, remains invaluable to Anambra State’s development aspirations and Nigeria’s unity.
According to Soludo, the celebration of Anyaoku’s 93rd birthday goes beyond marking the passage of years, serving instead as a moment to recognise a remarkable legacy that has left a profound impact on global diplomacy and national progress.
He wished Chief Anyaoku continued good health, personal fulfilment and lasting peace in the years ahead.
