As the 2027 general elections approach, a group operating under the auspices of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) Youth Vanguard, Northwest Zone, has vowed to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Northwest region and across the country.
The group expressed confidence in their ability to sweep the region in the forthcoming elections during a press conference in Kaduna.
The Zonal Coordinator of the Youth group, Comrade Auwal Sani, asserted that many individuals would soon abandon the APC for the SDP, describing the ruling party as “weak.”
Sani also revealed that former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai is a respected leader within the SDP and that the youth wing is eager to collaborate with him to elevate the party further.
“We are together with Nasir El-Rufai in the SDP, and all those interested in moving the country forward through the party should join us.
We have no dealings with all those miscreants who have been sponsored to spoil the name of the leader of the SDP, Mr. Adewole Adebayo.”
He clarified that the group’s focus is not on commenting about the current Kaduna State government but on capitalising on its weaknesses to rally support for the SDP.
“We are not here to comment on the activities of the Kaduna State Governor or the State government.
What we are saying is that we are going to capitalise on the weakness of the state government and campaign against it and woo many Nigerians and Kaduna state indigenes to SDP.
Our focus is not only on Kaduna but the entire Northwest and the country at large.”
Sani further highlighted the SDP’s transformation, noting that the party has become an inclusive platform for Nigerians from all walks of life.
“The Social Democratic Party (SDP) has undergone a significant transformation, evolving into a welcoming platform for Nigerians from all walks of life.
Our doors are open to everyone who shares our vision for a better future, and we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every member can contribute to the party’s growth and success.”
He added that the party’s evolution reflects its commitment to progress and inclusivity.
“This transformation is a testament to our commitment to progress and our determination to build a party that truly represents the interests of Nigerians.
We appreciate the good leadership quality provided by the party from the states to the National level for their vision and dedication to the growth of the party.”
Sani stressed the importance of unity among stakeholders, emphasising that Nigerians are looking up to the SDP as an alternative to the PDP and APC.

“At this critical moment, unity among stakeholders is paramount. The average Nigerian voter is looking at SDP as an alternative platform to rescue them from the failures of both the PDP and APC.
We must present a united front to capitalise on this opportunity and demonstrate our commitment to providing a better future for Nigerians.”
The group reaffirmed their dedication to the party’s success in the 2027 elections.
“As a legal and registered umbrella, SDP Youth Vanguard, we will do everything to protect the party and also to ensure the party’s success in the 2027 general elections.”
They also addressed concerns regarding individuals allegedly using the group’s name to undermine the work of one of the party’s leaders.
“Unfortunately, some youths allegedly recently sponsored used our registered name to undermine the good work of one of the leaders of the party, Prince Adewole Adebayo.
We call on them to refrain from that action in future, or we will report them to the relevant authorities for disciplinary action.”
The group issued an apology on behalf of those who may have been misled.
“The SDP Youth Vanguard is using this medium to apologise to Prince Adebayo on behalf of those youths who may be misled to carry out that unfortunate activity.”
Looking forward, the group expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future and its role in shaping it.
“The future of Nigeria is bright, and we are proud to be part of it. We will continue to work towards a better tomorrow for all Nigerians, and we are confident that our efforts will yield positive results.
We urge all Nigerians to join us in our journey towards a brighter future, and together, we can build a country where peace, unity and prosperity shall prevail.”
In conclusion, the group encouraged those interested in the party to register according to the SDP constitution.
“We wish to advise all those interested in the party to go to their wards to register properly as enshrined in the SDP constitution,” the Zonal Coordinator stressed.
