Saint Lucia Confers Highest National Accolade on President Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu was honored with the prestigious title of Knight Commander of the Order of Saint Lucia (KCOSL), the highest national accolade in Saint Lucia, at the Governor General’s official residence, during a state visit to the Caribbean nation.

The conferment was presided over by Governor General Errol Charles, acting on the advice of Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre. The honor recognises President Tinubu’s leadership in Africa and his efforts to strengthen ties between Nigeria and the Caribbean.

The award, which grants President Tinubu the title “Sir Bola Ahmed Tinubu, KCOSL (Hon.),” reflects Saint Lucia’s appreciation for his commitment to fostering cooperation in trade, education, and cultural exchange.

President Tinubu’s visit, been the first by a Nigerian leader to Saint Lucia, was described as a historic milestone in rekindling ancestral bonds, with many Saint Lucians tracing their heritage to Nigeria, as highlighted by Senate President Alvina Reynolds during a joint parliamentary session.

Prime Minister Pierre emphasised the significance of the visit in advancing diplomatic relations, noting ongoing efforts to establish formal ties between the two nations.

The ceremony, widely covered by regional media, was celebrated on X as a proud moment for Nigeria, with posts highlighting Tinubu’s global influence. This honor underscores Nigeria’s growing role in fostering African–Caribbean unity.
